Curtis Tucker

Written by Curtis’s wife Nawanna
In 1990, Curtis was 25-years-old, when he was wrongfully convicted of the crime he has languished behind the wall for 32 years on the (35-Life) sentence which was imposed. Curtis is now 55 years old, the father of a son and a daughter, who were 2 and 3 years old when he was taken away from them. Both blessed him with three grandchildren, 2 girls and one 1 boy.

Curtis has never strayed away from the fact that he was present the night lives were taken however that night will haunt him for the rest of his life one of the victims was his cousin and the other two were acquaintances. Curtis is deeply sorry for the lives that were lost and injured on that night, he would say at his sentencing, “Please do not send an innocent man to prison for life, perhaps if I was shot and killed that night I would not be here today.” Curtis followed all the rules that were bestowed upon him. Curtis would spend 26-years at a maximum facility with a clean institutional record before he was moved in 2019 to a medium. He completed all programs that were offered to him, raising money for charities Tomorrow’s Children’s Fund, Inwood House, and many others. He served as the President for Breaking Through the Arts (5 years) and completed AGG Therapy I and II, served as a facilitator for family reunion festivals, and a referee for all sporting events.

Curtis still continues to fight for his freedom 32 years later in 2019 Curtis applied for clemency with the hopes of returning to his wife and family, with full support from the family's pastor, elected officials, employers, and family members securing employment for him. Most of all Curtis desires to be hands-on with his 10-year-old adopted daughter and three grandchildren. Curtis deserves to be home.
