Emmanuel Pierre

Written by Emmanuel’s wife Emma

Emmanuel Pierre is the son of immigrant parents who came here for a better life in hopes that their children’s lives would reflect that better opportunity. Taking heed, Emmanuel went through years of school, earning his high school diploma and applying to college. However, before Emmanuel could achieve his dream of graduating and earning a degree, he was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to 25 years to life at the age of 26. Now, at 43 years old, Emmanuel has not given up his dream of earning that college degree. He is a Bachelor of Arts degree candidate at Bard College, while helping others through mentoring and academic tutoring, believing that improving himself as an individual brings the added responsibility and duty of helping your community improve as well. In 17 years of incarceration, Emmanuel has had a near-perfect disciplinary record, allowing himself to be a transformative light amongst the darkness. He is continuously volunteering his time through programs that address alternatives to violence, addiction, and aggression to better be able to help others. Emmanuel plans to carry the beneficial lessons he has learned to help prevent men and women from making the wrong choices and decisions that may lead to the prison system. His loving family, which includes his wife & son, parents, brothers, and extended family, all vow to care and support Emmanuel, desperately wanting him home. And he is eager to be the husband, son, brother and most importantly, the father and guide to a young man, so he does not repeat the experience of the father. Emmanuel suffers from hypertension, hyper cholesterol, chronic back pain caused by degenerative disc, and arthritis.
