Nashawn Pettway

Written by Nashawn’s wife Desiree

Nashawn was sentenced 25 to life for a crime he did not do. Nashawn has already served 20 years in prison and won’t be eligible for parole until September 2028. He's done the network program, The ART program, graduated from Cornell college, obtained his GED, and is currently participating in the Osborne Association’s parenting program. He is 42 years old and been incarcerated half of his life for a crime he did not do. He filed for clemency twice in January 2023. The governor sent him a letter in April 2023 that she received it. We have not heard anything since then. My husband hasn’t had any incidents in 20 years while being incarcerated. He works everyday as a teacher. If granted clemency, he would come hom to me, his supportive wife, his mom, siblings, and his uncle. He has the support of the RAPP Campaign and is connected to a housing coordinator, a therapist, and even has jobs lined up waiting for him.
