Taliyah Taylor
Written by Taliyah
I was sentenced to 22 1/3 years to life. I have 7 years left until I'm eligible for my first parole board. However, I have life on the back of my sentence so my release is up to the board.
I will be 39 in February.
I have accomplished many things in prison, to name a few I received an apprenticeship and am now licensed by the department of labor as a computer technician. I received my associates as well as my bachelors degree and have been on the honor floor for the last ten years. The last four years I've been residing on the highest honor unit in my facility.
I have a lot of outside support. I have a large family and they are all waiting for me to come home. I have letters of support from The Fortune Society, The Osborne Association, Katal, and Exodus Transitional Services.
When I filed for clemency 5/10/19 my application went as followed:
My name is Taliyah Taylor. I am filing this clemency application for a commutation of my sentence. My term or minimum period of imprisonment is more than one year. I have served at least one-half of my minimum period of imprisonment; and I will not become eligible for release on community supervision within one year from the date of this application for executive clemency.
Please review all of my certificates as well as my diploma and apprenticeship and you will see that I have made exceptional strides in self development and improvement. Furthermore, I have made responsible use of available rehabilitative programs and have identified and addressed my treatment needs. Commutation of my sentence is in the interest of justice, consistent with public safety and rehabilitation of the applicant because I am no longer a danger or a threat to myself or society, my lack of disciplinary supports that fact as well as my steady employment with the jobs that I have maintained throughout my incarceration.
