The Alliance of Families for Justice presents a special Virtual Town Hall:

Incarcerated: COVID-19 and the Plight of Families

Thursday, May 21, 2020

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Hear family members with loved ones incarcerated in New York State prisons share their lived experiences and urgent concerns.

Lives are in danger.

Incarcerated people face: lack of proper masks, no social distancing, items from care packages missing, few medical staff, shortages of nutritious food, reduced access to family and legal counsel.

And where limited testing has taken place, Covid-19 infection rates are near 70%

Governor Andrew Cuomo must understand that his inaction has serious consequences for the incarcerated people and their families. We demand a plan from Governor Cuomo to address the Covid-19 crisis in Prisons and to save lives!

Panel Includes:

  • Soffiyah Elijah, Executive Director, AFJ

  • Danny Glover, actor and social justice advocate, Board Chair, AFJ

  • Senator Brian Benjamin

  • Assemblyman Michael Blake

  • Members of four families

This Virtual Town Hall is in partnership with the offices of Senator Brian Benjamin and Assemblyman Michael Blake

Upon registration you will be sent a link to the Zoom meeting as well as the password. Space is limited. Register now! Registration closes Wednesday, May 20.
