COVID + Prison = Death: Rally to #HALTSolitary and #FreeOurElders

As the Legislature plans to reconvene, advocates, formerly incarcerated people, and their families are holding a virtually-connected rally outside Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie's office, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins' office, Queensboro Correctional Facility and on Zoom demanding New York's COVID-19 response include people in prison. We will call on Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie & Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins to do what Governor Cuomo refuses: save lives behind bars.

Passing Elder Parole, Fair & Timely Parole, and the HALT Solitary Confinement Act will reduce the number of people in prison who are vulnerable to COVID-19, limit the spread of the virus, and help ensure people behind bars with symptoms get treatment, not torture.

Join us Thursday, May 21 at 10 AM:

  • Outside the office of Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins: 28 Wells Avenue, Building #3, Yonkers, NY

  • Outside the office of Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie: 1446 East Gun Hill Road, Bronx, NY

  • Queensboro Correctional Facility: 47-04 Van Dam St, Long Island City, NY

  • On Zoom: bit.ly/may21-rally
